The task of the Community Economic Development Division is to give technical assistance to society, individually or group, through training, seminar, workshop, and capital support, in order to enable them build and develop their economic lives.

The programs held through this division are:

1.       Pinjaman Sarana Modal Usaha (PMSU).

2.       Kelompok Swadaya Masyarakat (KSM).

3.       Kelompok Peternak Sapi (KPS).

4.       Kelompok Perempuan Mandiri (KPM).

5.       Program Lingkungan Hidup.

 1. Pinjaman Sarana Modal Usaha (PMSU).

A. Objective                 : To assist the society through both technical and capital support to enable them start and develop their businesses.

B. Requirements        : Society will use the support to start a business or to develop their micro businesses.

C. Loan Amount          : Up to Rp.15,000,000.-

D. Loan Terms             : 24 Months.

E. Loan Portfolio         : Rp.5,994,234,382.-

F. Assisted Clients      : 1,874 clients

G. Average Loan         : Rp.3,172,000 / client.

2. Kelompok Swadaya Masyarakat (KSM).

Kelompok Swadaya Masyarakat (KSM) is a group of people who are approvingly willing to help and to corporate with one another in order to develop the source of service (especially micro-finance service) and to start and develop a productive and profitable business.

A. Objective                 : To assist the society who do not have access to local bank, especially for those who are lack of collateral.

B. Requirements              : - Clients should be bound in a group with minimum seven members. It is recommended that the group be formed based on the residents same area of living, to avoid difficulties in making coordination or in managing the group’s business activities.

                                                 - Clients are willing to cover the loss of others.

                                                 - Clients are ready to do monthly routine activity.

                                                 - There has to be a member in the group who is willing to be the guarantor of others.

                                                 - Approval about the group existence from local government is necessary.

 

C. Loan Amount          : The maximum amount of first loan is Rp.2,000,000.-

D. Loan Terms             : 18 Months.

E. Assisted Clients      : 212 groups with total 4,662 clients, or 21 clients per group.

F. Man: 4,241 – Woman: 421 (9.03%).

G. Total fund disbursed in 2008: Rp.721,000,000 (26 Groups).

H. Loan Portfolio        : Rp.1,836,521,147.-

I. Average Loan           : Rp.393,934 / per client.

      Note: in case a certain member needs bigger loan than others, or more than the group can guarantee (or limited by the group’s policy), then it is recommended that he be involved in Pinjaman Sarana Modal Usaha (PMSU) program.

3. Kelompok Peternak Sapi (KPS).

Kelompok Peternak Sapi (KPS) is a farmer’s income generating program through a utilization of their morning and afternoon leisure times while they are free from field work.

A. Objective                 : To help generate the poor families’ income. .

B. Requirements        : - Clients should be bound in a group with 5 – 10 members. It is recommended that the group be formed based on the residents same area of living, to avoid difficulties in making coordination or in managing the group’s business activities.

  - No collateral is necessary.

  - Clients are ready to find their own fodder for their cows.

  - Approval about the group existence from local government is necessary.

  - Each member has to own land to build a cow shed.

 

C. Breeding/Fattening Period               : 3 – 12 Months.

D. Fattening System : 75% of the profit made from the fattened cow is distributed to farmers.

E. Breeding System   : Two out of three new births are for farmers.

F. Assisted Clients      : 26 groups, with total 213 clients, 16 of whom are women.

G. Program capacity  : 420 cows.

4. Kelompok Perempuan Mandiri (KPM).

Kelompok Perempuan Mandiri is a family economic development program which is done through women empowerment.

A. Objective                 : To give a technical and capital assistance to women group to support their business so they may produce their own income and with such their self confidence is now lifted and in the end, the ultimate goal of women self pride enhancement can be achieved.

B. Requirements        : - Clients should be bound in a group with 7 – 10 members. It is recommended that the group be formed based on the residents same area of living, to avoid difficulties in making coordination or in managing the group’s business activities.

  - Clients are willing to cover the loss of others.

  - Clients are ready to do monthly routine activity.

  - Approval about the group existence from local government is necessary.

  - No collateral is needed.

 

C. Loan Amount          : The maximum amount of first loan is Rp.2,000,000.

D. Loan Terms             : 10 Months.

E. Assisted Clients      : 43 groups, with total 430 clients, or 8 clients per group.

F. Total fund disbursed in 2008: Rp.341,000,000 (35 Groups).

G. Loan Portfolio        : Rp.205,763,500.-

 I. Average Loan          : Rp.605,187 / per client.

5. Environment Preservation Program.

It is hoped, through the environment preservation programs, that MBM Foundation’s clients be having comprehensive environment knowledge, be wise in nature utilizing as living components in their daily lives, and be showing compassion to earth as a responsibility for the goodness of the forthcoming generations.

 A.     Managing Domestic Garbage.

 

1.       Objective:

·         To make the program participants able to overcome their garbage problems in their own house.

·         To enable the program participants able to create a clean and healthy environment around the area of their house.

·         To raise the healthy way of living of the program participants.

·         To raise the sense of responsibility of the program participants about the environment preservation.

·         To help the program participants be able to utilize the waste and create useful products.

 

2.       Assisted Families: 63 families.

 3.       Activities:

·         Organic and non-organic garbage filtering.

·         Compos making.

·         Discussion of garbage and its effect to environment.

 

B.      Biogas, an alternative source of energy

This program was designed to manage the waste resulted by the MBM Foundation’s Kelompok Peternak Sapi.

1.       Objective:     -     To reduce the dependence on fossil oil.

-          To utilize and to add values to cow’s waste.

-          To enhance a pro-environment source of energy.

-          To keep the environment sanitation.

2.       Number of biogas installation that have been built: 3 (three) units.
